Ninja Party!

Jonah had a few ideas for his party this year.
First he wanted a zhu pet party,
then dolphins, then ninja.
We went with the ninja theme.
He wanted to invite a ton of friends, but I limited
the number and he painfully selected 7.
When the kids arrived, they colored a ninja and
I stapled it to a bag for them (to keep their goodies).
Then, John told them a story about a ninja,
and they began their ninja training.
Each was given a black belt (fleece),
and we went out back. There, they practiced kicking,
punching, flipping over the swing set bar,
moving like a ninja, throwing stars, and nunchucks.
Once they were trained, they donned their hoods
(black tricot fabric) and began the search for their
ninja crystals. I had stolen those, and was reading a
magazine with the crystals beside me.
Using their super ninja skills, they were able to
retrieve the crystals (camo candy filled eggs)
without being caught.
Then we sang happy birthday, ate cake, and
opened presents. After that, each of the guests
was given a couple of little ninja toys.
Somehow, a couple of treat bags got switched,
but other than that, the party went really well.
(Thanks to John and all his help.)

Little People Halloween Party 2010

This was the 7th Annual Little People Halloween Party
at our house, and again this year we kinda sorta
went with a pumpkin theme.
I didn't get pictures of the treat bags.
They had finger puppets, kazoos,
Halloween stickers, bubbles,
and stretchy skeletons,in a little pumpkin bag

Dolphin Party

I showed Jonah several really cute (in my opinion)
party ideas. He even agreed to go along with one,
for a few days. Then he asserted his independence,
and told me that he wanted a Dolphin Party.
What on earth do you do for a Dolphin Party?
Here are the invitations:

For decorations, we hung blue streamers across
the living room and over the kitchen table.
In the living room, we put waves along the walls,
and fish cut outs hanging from the ceiling.
We also blew up a bunch of blue balloons.

When the kids arrived, they colored little fish cutouts.
Later, we held a blue blanket (parachute style)
and the kids dove underneath to find their fish.
After the coloring, we watched a few clips from
a PBS video about dolphins.
We played the "fishing" game, and then
practiced hitting a ball with our faces (like dolphins).
We played Memory with some Go Fish cards,
and Jonah opened his presents.
John got pizza and root beer from Little Caesars,
and for dessert we had brownies (no cake for Jonah).

Bentley's 8th Birthday Party

Bentley wanted a Bakugan Party like Maxwell's,
so we used the same invitation design,
and basic party idea,
but didn't attempt a tournament.
Mikey helped me hang the streamers, which was
awesome! I didn't have to climb off and on chairs,
and it went a lot faster.

First, Bentley wanted vanilla cupcakes
with green chocolate frosting.
Then, he wanted green strawberry cupcakes
with chocolate frosting.
He settled on green vanilla cupcakes
with chocolate frosting.

The party favors were once again,
one Bakugan and two cards per guest.

We put a different guy (Shun) on the bags
because he's Bentley's favorite.

He chose a sparkling "8" candle for his cupcake.

Happy Birthday Bentley!

*note to self - rootbeer and 7/8 year olds is a bad combination

Halloween Party Decorations

Elizabeth was a big help in decorating.
