Temple Blocks

The company that helped us make this,
also sells kits to make temple blocks.
I ordered five everyday temple blocks,
and gave them to the kids for Easter.
It took a lot longer than I expected it to.
Each layer had to fully dry before moving on,
and because I didn't want the kids to see me
working on them, it took about two weeks.
I finished the last coat of texture cream
just before we went to bed the night before Easter.
It was dry when we woke up, thank goodness.

this photo from LDS.org, cropped it, and blurred the edges.)

Idaho Falls Temple

Ever since John and I got married (9 1/2 years ago),
I've been looking for a picture of the Idaho Falls Temple
that I liked enough to hang in our home.
Some girls in the ward arranged to make
these temple portraits through Poppy Seed Projects,
and I signed up. They're a steal!
Similar temple pictures sell for above $200
in the stores, and I made this for under $50.
I don't absolutely LOVE the photo, but I do like it,
and I decided that between the great price,
and the slim chance that I'll find what I'm really
looking for in the near future,
I'd do ahead and get this for now.
I really want my kids to grow up looking at the temple.

It took just under 3 hours from start to finish,
and was more work than I'd expected.

Now I just have to decide where to hang it . . .
